The best type of book to read for language learning (Comprehensible input)

Reading is one of the most important things you can do to build vocabulary in your second language. But what kind of things should you be reading? Linguist Stephen Krashen says that “comprehensible input” is the key to effective language learning, meaning you need to be reading and listening to material that is simple enough for you to follow along (even if you don’t understand 100% of the vocabulary). When learning a second language, many people choose to read children’s books or books specifically designed to be read by second language learners. The problem with this method is that these types of books are often incredibly boring and will not hold the interest of adult readers. In this video I suggest plays as a good alternative reading material for intermediate language learners. They use simple language, they are not overly descriptive, they are 99% dialogue, and it is always perfectly clear which character is speaking. But most importantly, these are books that were designed to hold the interest of adult readers. Books designed for language learning simply will not hold your interest in the same way. I live near Canada, and I am learning French, so I come to Quebec and found books that were written in the dialect that I want to learn. This technique will also work if you are learning Spanish, or English, or any other language with multiple dialects. (If you specifically want to learn Spanish from Spain, or from Mexico or Argentina, you will be able to find plays from those countries. Same if you want to learn English from America or Britain.) If you already live in or can travel to the country that speaks the dialect you want to learn, it should be easy to find books written in that dialect in most book stores. If you cannot travel there, you can always order books online after doing a bit of research about plays written in any given country.
