Piazzolla - Invierno Porteño (Winter) from ‘Estaciones Porteñas (The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires)’ Unlike Vivaldi’s concertos, Piazzolla’s Four Seasons wasn’t originally intended to be a series. He has written the first one, Summer (Verano porteño), as a standalone work and the others came around five years later. While Vivaldi’s Four seasons represent pure and serenity inspired by Italy's four distinct seasons, Piazzolla’s pieces are rather sorrowful and passionate reason being it is an artwork based on the subtropical climate of Buenos Aires.This year of 2021, Astor Piazzolla celebrates the 100th anniversary of his birth year.
