Since the miniserie’s beginning, the scope of the videos has expanded. In this final episode about Sigma FP’s 3 flavours of RAW, we discuss everything we learned and know about each RAW. We start off from the hardware (video assists, rigging, media storage, monitoring the exposure while shooting), then we talk about general info concerning RAW files, and slowly focus on CDNG, BRAW and ProResRAW out of Sigma FP. I have a chapter comparing the RAWs’ key properties, namely clipping and noise levels, based on the tests you have already seen in the clips dedicated to each individual RAW. There were quite a few comments from people asking for more RAW footage in ‘real life’ situations, rather than tests meant to force the footage outside its dynamic range. I wanted to address this here, so I’ve included close to 20 mins of mixed RAW footage, shot outside during day time and nighttime, with natural light or video lights. For each clip, I also included camera metadata, BM Film ungraded and graded versions. I hope this helps! Finally, I felt that a conversation with Ion where we both tried to think about all the situations, problems, and highlights we’ve encountered with Sigma FP and its RAWs, from production to the end of post-production, as well as solutions we found, would be the most useful conclusion. Naturally, we’ve included what our favorite flavor of RAW is and why! Equipment used for the interview) Sony a7sIII and Sony A7IV (for the intro only) Rode wireless go II (for the interviews only) Shure MV 7 + Zoom F3 (for the VO) Link to file with Sigma Fp raw footage and other useful stuff + a word document with all the references I used in this video: https://s.go.ro/jo6heo4j
