We better get ready!" 6. Photographer STORYLINE: The Rolling Stones band arrived in Havana on Thursday evening, one day before their historic concert in Cuba, expected to draw hundreds of thousands of fans to hear the first rock and roll band ever to play in the country to a live audience. The four band members, lead singer Mick Jagger with guitarist Keith Richards, drummer Charlie Watts and guitarist Ronnie Woods, disembarked from a chartered Miami Air 737 at Havana's Jose Marti Airport, to a country which had once banned groups like theirs, considering their music culturally subversive. Jagger said those days are long past, and the country is beginning to change, opening up and embracing the outside world. The band was greeted on the tarmac by UK Ambassador to Cuba Tim Cole and Cuban Cultural Ministry officials. The Rolling Stones concert will be free to a Cuban audience hungry for a chance to experience western popular culture directly, something the band says it is happy to be able to provide to a Cuban audience for the first time. The concert in Cuba wraps up the bands just completed Latin America 'Ole' tour. =========================================================== Clients are reminded: (i) to check the terms of their licence agreements for use of content outside news programming and that further advice and assistance can be obtained from the AP Archive on: Tel +44 (0) 20 7482 7482 Email: [email protected] (ii) they should check with the applicable collecting society in their Territory regarding the clearance of any sound recording or performance included within the AP Television News service (iii) they have editorial responsibility for the use of all and any content included within the AP Television News service and for libel, privacy, compliance and third party rights applicable to their Territory.
