The question of how to be a yacht captain cannot be answered without consideration for the mountain of courses for yacht crew, which must be taken in order to ascend the superyacht crew ranks. Your super yacht career will begin with some basic yacht deckhand qualifications; but, to attain more senior mega yacht crew positions, it is necessary to commit to a programme of yacht crew training that becomes increasingly more challenging as you work your way up. In this video, I’m going to show you how much time and money is required for EVERY course and rank between deckhand and super yacht captain. If you only want to know how to become a yacht crew member on smaller yachts, or in more junior super yacht crew positions, just step off when you reach the yacht crew rank that you desire! However, I still recommend continuing your training so long as you remain in the industry. As well as opening up more options for you in the future, it will also teach you how to be a yacht crew member of the highest calibre. For superyacht crew positions that aren’t part of the deck department, a different programme of yacht crew training will need to be followed; but, please do check out the rest of the channel for other videos that may be able to offer you some value.
