Taking a Respiratory History - Clinical Skills - Dr James Gill

TLDR: Here is the detailed overview of the clinical information which you need to keep in mind, and ensure that you ask in the history of any patient attending with a respiratory problem. Okay, the second try of the Macleod's Clinical Examination podcasts (now with tweaked audio). It turns out that recording one of the main chapters is a bit of a beast! Thus I've split the chapter into a revision of the respiratory history (this video), and the theory of performing a respiratory examination which will be released later. These are still very much work in progress type things, so I'll be very grateful for any feedback on how we can improve the utility for medical school and finals revision #clinicalskills #respiratoryexamination #medicalrevision #Respiratory #Medicalschoolrevision You can now consult via video or in person with Dr Gill at Dr Finlay’s Private Practice - https://www.drfinlays.co.uk/services/... 00:00 - Introduction 00:28 - Explaining Examination Nuances and Significance 01:04 - Deep Dive into History Taking for Patient Examination 02:05 - Introduction to Macleod's Clinical Examination Podcasts Variation 02:30 - Chapter 5: Anatomy and Physiology of the Respiratory System 04:42 - Respiratory Symptoms: Understanding and Classifying 07:03 - Mechanisms Causing Breathlessness in Respiratory Diseases 09:19 - Detailed Analysis of Breathlessness and Its Clinical Implications 11:02 - Additional Information on Breathlessness for Diagnosis 12:47 - Wheeze: Identification, Causes, and Clinical Questions 15:42 - The Significance of Cough in Respiratory Assessment 17:46 - Exploring Sputum Production and Its Clinical Relevance 24:08 - Hemoptysis: Causes, Clinical Presentation, and Questions 26:14 - Stridor: Causes, Clinical Presentation, and Emergency Management 28:33 - Chest Pain in Respiratory Conditions: Causes and Evaluation 32:17 - Musculoskeletal Chest Pain and Differential Diagnoses 36:46 - Fevers, Rigors, and Night Sweats in Respiratory Diseases 39:19 - Weight Loss and Its Importance in Respiratory Conditions 40:50 - Daytime Sleepiness and Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders 42:47 - Past Medical History Relevant to Respiratory Conditions 47:39 - Drug and Allergy History with Respiratory Implications 51:23 - Family History: Genetic Factors in Respiratory Diseases 52:21 - Social History and Its Impact on Respiratory Health 55:38 - Closing Thoughts
