If operated incorrectly, the sliders on the soft top struts can break. Use a flashlight to check which sliders are broken. In this case, it is the front one on the driver side. You should, of course, check both sides. Note: The ignition is left on during the removal. The soft top must be electrically actuated several times. Connect a battery charger to prevent battery discharge during the repair. First remove the trunk tray. Loosen the four screws with a screwdriver. These are secured and will not fall out. The tray can now be removed. Connect the battery to the charger. Switch on the ignition. Retract the soft top all the way. Remove the side supports. Start on the driver side. Proceed in the same way on the other side. Remove the cover on the B-pillar. This is only plugged in. Proceed in the same way on the other side. The special tool shown here must be used now. These drifts actuate the microswitches where the supports are usually seated. This simulates to the soft top that the side supports are still in place. The soft top can thus still be electrically opened and closed. Close the soft top until the roof peak latch can be taken out of the guide rail. Watch out for the loose spring. The hammer and rocker have to be inserted together for installation. The spacer cable is then hooked in at the point highlighted. The drive cable is hooked in at the second marking. All of the sliders can be detached from the soft top struts and replaced like this. Once all sliders are installed, the soft top can be reinserted. Place the header bow latches on the guide rail. Hook the spacer cable into the latch on both sides. Push the soft top down slightly until the sliders can be inserted on the soft top struts. The hammer and rocker follow next. First hook the spacer cable into it. Then hook the drive cable in. Reattach the roof peak latches. Watch out for the springs again. Also hook the drive cable into the latch. Remove the drifts and plug the cover back on. Reinstall the side supports on both sides. Finally, perform a function test.
