Mimi Gilbert was born and raised in California, where they first began singing and performing in public. At the age of 15, Mimi bought their first battery-powered amp and took to the streets of American cities. There they learned the art of story-telling, the impact of vulnerability, and the power of voice. During their many years since touring on the road, Gilbert has worked honing their craft and recording songs. A self-proclaimed private person, Mimi has spent a long time keeping much in hiding; her life, her sexuality, their past. Their most recent songs shatter the walls of concealment they worked so hard to build. Mimi is now based between Melbourne, Australia and Los Angeles.
