ARCHIVAL NOTE: This tape was sent in from Finland, and while it does show the Watershed as it appeared on Soviet TV, it is unusual that the message was broadcast well after the normally scheduled sign-off. Researchers hypothesize the network was kept online in preparation for a potential NATO attack. The following is a rough translation of the audio portion of the message: "Attention, dear comrades! The Red Army reports that the area was attacked from the air. To ensure the safety of the population, especially children, everyone must walk calmly and in an orderly manner to the nearest anti-radiation shelter. Close windows, turn off electrical and gas appliances, turn off taps. Bring important documents and a gas mask with you, as well as as much food and water as you can. Enterprises and institutions carry out activities provided for by special instructions. Comrades, remember! no need for panic or anxiety.
