Take Me I'm Yours & Blow Away: Tribute to Jobriath & Hugh Skinner's portrayal of Radovid

I recently noticed, in two separate interviews, Hugh Skinner having mentioned: a) that he liked to listen to a bit of Jobriath (from the '70s Glam Rock scene) to help get himself in the mood to play Radovid (    • Cassie Clare, Graham McTavish & Hugh ...   ); and b) that, when he was offered to give his input for the choice of the wig he would be wearing to portray his character, he'd mentioned that he wanted something a bit reminiscent of the '70s Glam Rock scene (    • Star Of ‘The Witcher’ Hugh Skinner Jo...   )... So, I was curious to see if the two were somehow connected, and thus went looking for a few of Jobriath's pictures and... OH. Let's say that the picture of Jobriath with his fur coat on, especially, gave me some serious Radovid vibes indeed (it probably helps that Hugh has a boyish and overall gentle facial structure, too). And then, I got a bit upset... Because my favorite singer of all time is David Bowie, and I'd... never actually heard of Jobriath before, despite their music and performance styles having often drawn comparisons. I mean, I was born in the '80s and I'm from a more francophone culture to begin with (my parents were more into Johnny Hallyday, Dalida, Michel Sardou, Diane Dufresne, etc. in those years)... So, I sort of discovered Bowie on my own, at some point, in the '90s. I guess it's somewhat normal that I wouldn't have been exposed to his work before (or wouldn't really have noticed him if I had). But still! I really feel like he was such a pioneer, that opened the door for other queer artists to become successful (while he personally had said door violently slammed back in his own face, to say the least!), that I'm very shocked to only be learning about him now. This is definitely a part of my own culture that I had been sorely missing, and I'm deeply grateful to Hugh for having brought him to my attention through these interviews. So, after having watched Kieran Turner's documentary "Jobriath A.D." (note: the live recording session and the pictures that are featured in my video, are from it, too):    • Видео   , I felt inspired to do a video combining a few scenes of Hugh's performance on the show with some of Jobriath's music. I'm not sure how much of Hugh's looks or portrayal of Radovid was actually meant to pay homage to the late musician, but I can definitely see how listening to his songs might have been a source of inspiration for his character. It does make sense, in a lot of different ways. Ex: they are both two very enigmatic, deeply sensitive, and - in many ways - lonely figures, with a tendency to hide their true selves from the world, among others... And yes, let's say that Radovid's "then take me here" line suddenly feels even more inspired. For those of you already familiar with the artist, that would rather enjoy the music and the images without being distracted by the text:    • Take Me I'm Yours & Blow Away: Tribut...   ---------- Disclaimers & Fair Use of the material: This video is a work of pure love for Netflix’s “The Witcher” ‘s TV series, its characters, pretty much everything and everyone that were involved in the creation and making of the series (including its source material, written by Andrzej Sapkowski), and also its fandom. It is meant to be transformative, and to be a further exploration/study and celebration of some of the series characters’ dynamics and relationships. Absolutely no personal or commercial profit was or is made from this video (nor was it ever intended). Unless believed otherwise by copyright holders (in which case, it will be my pleasure to comply with their demands, as I sincerely am not looking to put them at any disadvantage, nor harm their work or how they can profit from it in any way), fan videos are usually a good and strong source of publicity for the source material; as they highly contribute to maintaining the original work’s visibility across the years, and especially, to keeping the excitement and enthusiasm for the source material very much alive and thriving.
