Forging a Timber Framing Slick

In this video I forge a timber framing slick from a piece of 6mm (1/4'') thick mild steel with a width of 70mm (2.77'') and a piece of high carbon tool steel forge welded to the end. For the handle I turned a piece of ash on a lathe. I secured the handle to the socket by first heating the socket and then hammering on the handle and then by running a screw through it. I played a bit with the editing and used a split screen just to show quickly how the hardy tool and the drift were made. I made a hardie hole on my anvil the same size as common square tubing so that I could quickly make hardie tools. I filed the bevel only through the mild steel and then had to use the grinder but failed to film that part. Only the top side of the slick was ground as I didn't want to risk with grinding the bottom side as it was already flat. I didn't show testing the slick as I don't really have a use for this tool yet and didn't want to make another meaningless test. Hope you enjoy and please like, comment and subscribe.
