Antonio Donato Nobre study the interactions between forests and atmosphere. His research revealed that there are real steam rivers running over the Amazon rainforest and carrying moisture to much of the continent. Thanks to these rivers, South America is not a desert like Africa. His research shows the fragility of the forest against a backdrop of climate change and the huge risk we run if we lose it. --- About TEDx, x = independently organized event In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience.
