Concinnity | "This is my song" (Finlandia by Jean Sibelius)

Performed and Recorded Live by Voices of Concinnity (and audience) February 2, 2019 “This is my song” Music by Jean Sibelius (tune Finlandia) Words by Lloyd Stone 1934 (v. 1 & 2); Georgia Harkness (v. 3) Voices of Concinnity sang this song at the end of each of their performances during 2018-19 Season, asking the audience to join in the singing on the third verse These stanzas, published during the period between the two world wars, express a hope for lasting peace among all nations, races, and cultures. Finlandia is derived from a “tone poem” of the same name by Finnish composer Jean Sibelius. Text: This is my song, Oh God of all the nations, A song of peace for lands afar and mine. This is my home, the country where my heart is; Here are my hopes, my dreams, my sacred shrine. But other hearts in other lands are beating. With hopes and dreams as true and high as mine. My country’s skies are bluer than the ocean, And sunlight beams on cloverleaf and pine. But other lands have sunlight too and clover, And skies are everywhere as blue as mine. O hear my song, Oh God of all the nations, A song of peace for their land and for mine. May truth and freedom come to every nation May peace abound where strife as raged so long That each may seek to love and build together A world united, righting every wrong. A world united in its love for freedom, Proclaiming peace together in one song VOICES OF CONCINNITY Sarah Kaufold, Artistic Director Singers: Erin Bartram, Sam Beckwith, Liz Bologna, Chris Hartel, Kara Hart, Brian Jones, Sarah Kaufold, Todd Fruth, Dan Pavone, Allie Savage, Alex Walker, Jermaine Woodard, Jr. Recorded Live on February 2, 2019 at Old St. Andrews Church, Connecticut.
