In this video you will be my guest on the M. S. Jeanine, a barge cruising the Burgundy area of France. The tour begins in Lyon, France, then travels by bus to Besançon, approximately 175k west of the border of Switzerland. Here Croisi Europe's barge M.S. Jeanine (www.croisieuroperivercruises.com) is waiting for us for a week's "barging" in this famous region of France. Each day we have the opportunity to visit nearby UNESCO sites, walk or bike along the tow path, or just observe the scenery from the lounge or open deck. The barge cruise ends in Dijon (the mustard capital!). I hope you will be able to feel how each of the 54 locks we go through creates a flurry of activity by the barge staff. The food, wine and cheese tasting during this week perhaps will make you want to never leave the barge! This barge was constructed in 1926. It was converted to a hotel barge in 1985 and completely renovated in 2013. It is 128 feet long by 17 feet wide (with air conditioning and central heating) and you will see that there are but inches to spare when going through the locks.
