The Devonian Period (420– 358 Million years ago) is also known as the era of Fish, since this was the the time these primordial vertebrates radiated into multiple clades, like the armored Placoderms, the first Sharks or the group that would give origin to all Tetrapods, the Sarcopterygii. These early tetrapods evolved lungs and took their first steps on a land that was still almost barren, until then only colonized by the earliest plants, some arthropods and giant fungi.
