A Russian foreign ministry spokesperson said that the 'US wants to unbalance the domestic political situation in India in order to complicate the ongoing general parliamentary elections in the country.' India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi has also accused foreign powers of trying to interfere in India's polls. A few days ago, foreign minister S. Jaishankar had accused western media of considering themselves to be "political players" in the elections. Accusations of foreign meddling in a country's elections are not new though.
