Join us on our first-time watching Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One. This has to be without a doubt some of the best action we've seen all year. This film was filled with high-stakes moments, action-packed sequences and of course the suspense that the Mission: Impossible movies are known for. Ethan Hunt played by actor and incredibly talented stuntman Tom Cruise makes his return as he and his team have to tackle yet another world ending conflict. The intricate web of espionage has only gotten stickier now that a mysterious AI named The Entity has gotten so powerful it is now considered to be sentient. We thoroughly enjoyed the action sequences in this movie. The high paced chase in the streets of Rome which were shot on location which makes a huge difference when watching, the exhilarating scene leading up to Ethan Hunt having to jump from a cliff on a motorcycle which was all shot for real (Yeah...Tom Cruise actually did that) to the nail-biting edge of your seat finale that featured a high speed train approaching a collapsed bridge. There is so much to love about this film! The way it was shot, the way it was edited and the way the actors portrayed the characters. Newcomer to the series Hayley Atwell does such an incredible job as Grace and simply fits right into place with the rest of the crew. Fan favorites Luther and Benji played by Ving Rhames and Simon Pegg continue to be incredibly well written supporting characters that are ride or die for their team and the sake of the world. Another standout was Vanessa Kirby. She had to do scenes that required a lot more range and we got to see some of those acting chops especially during the train sequence. And of course we must mention the incredible work Lorne Balfe has done with this series. His Mission: Impossible music is our favorite out of the entire franchise. It adds depth, tension and the sense of pure adrenaline to scenes that were already close to perfect. Add in the music and you have an iconic sequence that Mission: Impossible just seems to keep getting better and better at executing.
