As per Income tax act, to determine whether you're a resident or non-resident in India for a financial year: - Stayed in India for 182 days or more during the financial year, OR - Stayed in India for 60 days during the financial year and 365 days in the preceding 4 years. - Exceptions to the 60-day rule include being an Indian citizen working abroad or visiting India as a PIO or Indian citizen. In such cases, you're considered a resident if you've stayed in India for 182 days or more. If you don't meet any of these conditions, you're a non-resident. Banking NRE Account: For parking foreign earnings in India. Funds fully repatriable, tax-free interest. NRO Account: For managing Indian income.
