Rust in Peace is arguably the greatest Metal Album of all time, but I don't think anyone would be able to argue that it's the greatest Metal Guitar album of all time. I compiled all the Dave Mustaine solos I recorded in the past couple of years. A commenter brought this to my attention. All the live videos of Dave show him doing this and all the solo covers of the solo also show this. The old TAB book I had since I was a teenager says to tap your pick above the neck pickup and slide it up towards the bridge so I assumed that's what it was. It does sound like there's a pull-off happening, but it could also be feedback mixed in with the bent note. The art of guitar channel says that it could be that Dave used a metal pick in the studio to create that tap/slide effect. The Tab book is full of mistakes so it's not really a reliable source.
