Buffy & Giles - Where I Stood (dedicated to HumanDictionary41)

Hoo boy... When HumanDictionary41 suggested Mary Higgins' song "Where I stood" for a Buffy/Giles video, I envisioned I was going to make this angsty, shippy love triangle video with Giles in the middle because, well, a HUGE part of the actual song is about another woman. But then I cut that part off (oops!) because the line that REALLY got to me was "'Cos I don't know who I am, who I am without you. All I know is that I should." That line really underlined how I see Buffy and Giles. Giles was always pushing Buffy to stand with her own two feet - even sometimes when he shouldn't have. glares at season 6 I think lot of the times Buffy just thinks he's simply pushing her away and turning his back on her which is something I tried to convey in this video with the subtlety of a sledgehammer. Since this is from Buffy's POV and revolves around her abandonment issues, Giles comes off rather cold and distant lot of the time. This makes me sad but it was something I thought was necessary for this video. So, basically this is a depressing B/G relationship study with no romance in sight. Okay, maybe there's a smidgen of something there if you squint. And tilt your head? Especially with the clip with Riley because I freely admit I edited it to - or at least tried to - look like Giles was jealous of Riley. I don't know what it is about Riley that really brings out the rabid B/G shipper in me. Terribly sorry about the lack of romance and the butchering of the song... but in any case, I hope you enjoy! *** Song "Where I Stood" by Missy Higgins. All rights belong to their respected owners.
