There are also many restaurants on the jetties serving Hamburg specialities such as delicious fish sandwiches or Labskaus. In 1839, the first jetties were used by steamships as a landing stage. At that time, coal was unloaded and stored. Later, the large passenger ships travelled overseas from here.
