The HRE was informally called the 'German State'. Q2. Why German Confederation and not Prussia between 1815 and 1867? A2. Same reason as A1. Majority of the area that is now in Germany was a part of the German Confederation, not Prussia. Prussia started dominating only after 1867. Q3. Why are the Austrian Emperors shown as German leaders from 1815 to 1867? A3. Since the inception of German Confederation, the Emperor of Austria was also the nominal Head of the German Confederation. Q4. Why Emperors/Presidents instead of Chancellors from 1871 to 1933, but Chancellors instead of Presidents from 1949 to 2022? A4.
