Dr. Nurul Shahnaz Ahmad Mahdzan is an Associate Professor at the Department of Finance & Banking, Faculty of Business & Accountancy, University of Malaya. She obtained her PhD from the Nottingham University Business School, United Kingdom, in 2010. She received her Masters of Business Administration (with Distinction) from the University of Malaya, and her Bachelor’s in Business Administration (Summa Cum Laude) from Ohio University, USA. Her research interests are risk management and insurance, saving behaviour, and financial attitudes of households. She has more than 30 publications in books, chapters in books, and journal articles. She has served as internal and external examiner for more than 10 PhD theses both locally and internationally and has a total of 5 students who have successfully graduated under her supervision. As Head of Department, she has also sat on the board of examiners for numerous PhD students within the department.
