Fragile X syndrome is caused by lack of one protein, FMRP. But this one protein occurs in different variations. Do the different versions of FMRP have different roles in the brain, and if so, is there one that's key? If we could replace FMRP to treat Fragile X syndrome, which version would we use? With a research grant from FRAXA team of Dr. Yongjie Yang and Dr. Kathryn Reynolds aims to find out, which may inform future therapeutic research. Learn more about this FRAXA Research Grant: https://www.fraxa.org/human-fmr1-isof... FRAXA’s mission is to find effective treatments and ultimately a cure for Fragile X syndrome. We directly fund research grants and fellowships at top universities around the world. We partner with biomedical and pharmaceutical companies, large and small, to bridge the gap between research discoveries and actual treatments. Treatments for Fragile X are likely to help people affected by autism, Alzheimer’s, and other brain disorders.
