Franz also hosted our meeting near their offices in Oakland, CA. Franz Inc has been selling Franz Lisp and Allegro Common Lisp for the last thirty years. In 2005, Franz entered the market for Semantic Graph Databases by introducing AllegroGraph. Our graph database is used by intelligence agencies, the army, and recently by pharmaceutical companies, financial institutions and hospitals. At the meetup I will talk about some interesting enterprise use cases of a Semantic Graph Database. One example would be interactive fraud detection for a Tax Office in Europe. In the example I will use Gruff, a visual navigation tool for graph databases to explore a network of criminal organizations. The other use case is about the Semantic Data Lake (SDL), a collaboration with the Montefiore hospital chain in the Bronx. In this SDL we store 2.7 Million patients with 10 years of electronic medical records. In this use case I will describe how we use our distributed graph database on top of Hadoop. How we use the query language SPARQL to extract feature vectors out of the data, apply R and SPARK ML, and then return the results of the statistics and machine learning to the SDL and do graph processing on top of that.
