This Navratri season we have decided to go back to our roots, Folk dance of Gujarat, Garba. With the diverse cultures and multiple festivals celebrated in India the joy of folk art doesn't remain restricted to anyone area but is spread wide equally throughout the nation. Interestingly, Raas Nritya is associated with two Indian deities: the Goddess Durga and Lord Krishna. The dance is nicknamed as "The Sword Dance," with the dandiya representing Durga's swords. The other influence lies in the partner dance that Lord Krishna performed with Radha & Gopis known as the Raas lila. The Raas lila or Krishna Tandava, as described in Hindu scriptures , is where he dances with Radha and her sakhis. The Indian classical dance of Kathak evolved from the 'Raslila of Braj and Manipuri Classical Dance' (Vrindavana) also known as Natwari Nritya, which was then revived in 1960s. Disclaimer : In the current video we make an exception from our previous dance covers by deriving an inspiration from the above thought.
