Garth Fagan is a world-renowned choreographer and dancer, who created and choreographed the path-breaking dances for Walt Disney's Broadway musical "The Lion King" for which he won the prestigious Tony and Laurence Olivier Awards. Garth founded the internationally acclaimed Garth Fagan Dance company more than 40 years ago and is heralded for introducing unique and signature movements, style and vocabulary to dance, fusing classical techniques with African and Caribbean rhythms and postures. In this passionate, stimulating and stirring TEDxJamaica talk, Garth reveals how he painfully defied the academic expectations of his classically educated father to express himself through dance, accomplishing what he willed.
