Swarānjali This piece is our first ever own original music composition. When we sat down to compose something by ourselves, we asked ourselves what do we want to make this about? We knew this was going to be Reethigowla, and we knew we were toying with the format of a Thillana. The Sahityam in the Thillana usually details or glorifies the aspects of a particular diety, but wanted to sing a song of darkness and light, despair and hope, because the light at the end of the tunnel is Faith. So the lyrics came to life, celebrating surrender and shraddha. ಕಾಣುವ ಬೆಳಕು ಕೇಳುವ ಧ್ವನಿಯು ತೀರಕೆ ಮರಳುವ ದೇಹಕೆ ಸೇರುವ ಅಲೆಗಳ ಬಲವು In the middle of a busy month (pre-corona) we spontaneously decided to take a weekend off to drive around rural Karnataka and shoot this piece. Three phonecalls later, Simran Sivakumar Pritika Krishna Kumar and Sandhya Muralidharan had joined this mad quest. We set off from Bangalore at 3am, and spent the next two days driving, exploring, planning, choreographing, shooting. Sometimes all you can do is be humbled and grateful, for these truly outstanding lives we get to live as dancers. God/Universe/Nature, from the deepest parts of our heart, we thank You.
