How Javier Milei is strengthening Argentina’s economy

Cato Institute Latin America Policy Analyst Daniel Raisbeck breaks down how Argentinian President Javier Milei is strengthening the country’s economy. Since assuming office in December, President Milei has managed to reduce the monthly inflation rate from 25.5 per cent in December to 13.2 per cent in February. The libertarian economist is promising to slash 70,000 government positions in the coming months. Mr Raisbeck explained how the President promised to “slash inflation” by shutting down the central bank and dollarising the Argentine peso. “He has taken numerous measures to reign in the state which was completely out of control, especially in terms of spending and monetising the debt which caused the inflation in the first place,” he said.
