The Canadian College of Health Leaders is proud to announce that Joanne Curtis has been named recipient of the 2024 Celebrating the Human Spirit Award. Joanne Curtis is a liver transplant recipient who knows first-hand the meaning of the gift of life. Since the time she was in hospital for her own surgery, she has dedicated her time and energy to supporting individuals and families navigating the organ donation journey (both donors and recipients) and generating awareness of the importance of organ donation. As a long-time volunteer with BC Transplant (BCT), Joanne Curtis embodies the Celebrating the Human Spirit Award by directly making a difference in improving patient understanding and creating awareness of the important topic of organ donation. She has selflessly committed numerous hours to the volunteer program for 10 years, participating in all volunteer roles and directly contributing to an increase in organ donation registrations. Bénévole depuis longtemps pour BC Transplant (BCT), Joanne Curtis est la lauréate tout indiquée pour le prix de célébration de l’esprit humain, car elle fait directement une différence en améliorant la compréhension qu’ont les patients du don d’organes et en faisant mieux connaître son importance.
