Join me, as I head out in the Arctic wilderness on Sørøya island in Northern Norway for what Norwegians call "friluftsliv". This movie shows highlights from the first day of a five day long trip across the wild, barren and beautiful island in the summer of 2020. It's a magical world - Let's go Exploring! ------------------------------ Please - Like - Subscribe - And go for a walk today! ------------------------------ This is an example of the Norwegian concept of "friluftsliv", which translates to open-air living and spending time outdoors whatever the season! I walked along a new hiking trail that takes you across the island from Hasvik village in the South and to Tarhalsen lighthouse in the North. This is a marked 110 km long trail that will be finished in 2021, but 2/3 of the route is ready. It takes you through a beautiful and wild Arctic landscape. This is a place far from the madding crowd and you will not be sorry for visiting:) I will soon publish more movies from trip and the experience gets more amazing for every day! The 811-square-kilometre (313 sq mi) island is divided between Hasvik Municipality and Hammerfest Municipality. It is often claimed to be "one of the most beautiful" of the islands in Norway. In 2012, the population of the island was 1,092. The island is very rocky and mountainous. The highest point on the island is the 659-metre (2,162 ft) tall mountain Komagaksla on the southern shore of the island. The coastline is very jagged and has numerous fjords that cut inland from the open ocean. The island is surrounded by the Norwegian Sea on the north and the Sørøysundet strait to the south. #visitnorway #wildcamping #sørøya #wilderness
