We stayed for one night in the Kumarakom lake resort's houseboat. We came to Kumarakom from Thekkady. On arrival , we were given a cold towel and cool cocunut water. Very much appreciated. The resort is very beautiful .We straight to our houseboat where we had already selected the menu lunch and dinner ,Our very own personal chef Amol served us the best cuisine in our air conditioned dining room on the houseboat. The lunch menu was comprehensive - soup, salad, 2 non veg dishes, 3 veg dishes and dessert. Food was just too good.We enjoyed our lunch while floating thru the backwaters in our luxurious houeboat. We saw many other houseboats on our ride, but the one belonging to Kumarakom Lake resort is the most luxurious and the only one that has an air conditioned dinnig hall with a full glass facade, so you get a 360 degree view of the backwaters wuithout sweating it out in the heat! Our cruise started at 2pm and went on for 4 hours during which we saw canals, paddy fields, village of Alleppy and people going about their daily routine along the backwaters - schools, playing cricket, washing clothes etc. arround 5 pm , they docked the houseboat , we enjoyed the beautiful sunset from the deck. You can play many indoor games in the house boat. Dinner was served at 9 pm with glass of wine . Pepper mutton roast and grill seer fish was outstanding. Sleeping in our bedroom with windows opening to the backwaters was fabulous. we got up in the morning to tea and toast and went for another 2 hr morning cruise and finally reached the resort arround 9am.
