This VHS videotape was given out exclusively to cast members who worked during the opening of the new Disneyland Resort and Disney's California Adventure in 2001. It's presented as a special presentation of CastTV, and goes over the many events held during the grand reopening of the resort. On the back of the VHS packaging is a message from Cynthia Harriss, the then-Senior Vice President of the Disneyland Resort, which goes as follows: "Some of the greatest keepsakes we have of that magical day in 1955 when Disneyland Park opened its gates to the world are the moments that were captured on film. Over the years, such classic clips have allowed those who were privileged to be a part of the history-making event to relive their cherished memories and future generations to feel as though they were there. In the same spirit, this video compilation of the grand opening festivities for the new Disneyland Resort in 2001 has been created especially for you - The Cast Members who helped to continue this fairytale dream come true. From the ceremonies broadcast on televisions around the globe, to some behind-the-scenes surprises never before seen. It is my hope that all of these images bring back the excitement and emotion of being part of an extraordinary grand opening team, and give your family and friends the opportunity to share in your unforgettable experience On behalf of everyone who will ever be touched by the magic of the Disneyland Resort, I dedicate this video tribute to you! - Cynthia." When this tape arrived secondhand in my collection, it was still sealed in its original shrink wrap, so evidently someone wasn't too keen on reliving those magical memories. Regardless, unless I'm mistaken, this is the first YouTube upload of the tape in its entirety, so I hope you enjoy seeing all it has to offer. On a side note, this is the first tape I've digitized using a new method. Before, I was using the built in VHS-to-DVD transfer in my VCR, and then ripping the disc on my computer. But this resulted in very low-resolution video, and restricted me from digitizing copy-protected tapes. For this tape, I'm using the HDMI out on my VCR (Yes, one of the rare models to support VHS output over HDMI), and recording it to my computer using an HDMI to USB adapter. Not only does this make for much better picture quality, it also lets me upload copy-protected tapes, like this one! In the future, I may go back and reupload some of my other tapes in higher quality, and unlist the original uploads. I'm really excited to get this one out there, I've been trying to find a suitable way to upload it for quite a while.
