Do We Owe St Ives An Apology 😱 - The Micro Tear Myth And Lawsuit - When Beauty Turns Ugly

✖ Instagram - @james_s_welsh ✖ Twitter - @james_s_welsh December 2016 KAYLEE BROWNING and SARAH BASILE file a lawsuit against Unilever and St Ives. Both claiming that 2 St Ives Apricot Scrub products, that both use finely-ground walnut shell powder (“WSP”) as the exfoliant, caused “micro-tears,” a type of skin damage they say “may not be immediately noticeable to the naked eye, [but] it nonetheless leads to acne, infection and wrinkles.” And ultimately claiming that they had professional and scientific evidence that St Ives was unfit to be sold as a skincare product. But not all is as it seems. Whilst we are told by influencers and dermatologists that we should avoid physical exfoliants because they can cause micro tears, there is still no evidence that such things exist. Today, we explore an internet hoax, junk science and the conspiracy behind the skincare icon that is, St Ives Apricot Scrub. 00:00 Intro 01:40 St. Ives History 03:28 St. Ives Cleansing Stick Cactus Water & Hibiscus 05:05 St. Ives Lawsuit 07:26 St. Ives Micro Tears & Evidence 09:59 St. Ives Hydrating Daily Facial Cleanser Watermelon 11:10 St. Ives False Advertising & False Claims 14:44 Plaintiffs Evidence Against St Ives Apricot Scrub 22:26 St Ives and their concern for the Walnut Particles 23:24 St Ives Testing & Outcome 25:31 Is the term Dermatologist Tested Misleading? 26:45 Are Micro Tears A Myth? 29:50 Dr Shah TikTok On St. Ives 30:42 My Experience with St. Ives 32:01 St. Ives Renewing Collagen & Elastin Moisturizer 33:31 Why Was The St. Ives Case Thrown Out Of Court? 39:15 Final Thought/Outro PRODUCTS IN THIS VIDEO (*= affiliate link) ICON MEANINGS: Present - Gifted Item (Product was sent to me as a gift, no money has been exchanged and there is no obligation to feature product(s) on social platforms) AD Megaphone - Sponsored item (Brand has paid me money and I have signed a contract for the item to appear in the video.
