There is 10%-15% more friction than natural ice. This will make your blades dull a little bit faster than if you were skating on real ice but will not damage your blades. Does synthetic ice require alot of maintenance? No. Clean the surface of your ice with a damp mop and you can use a furniture polish to further lubricate the surface (though polishing is not needed). Can I do the same maneuvers on synthetic ice as I can on real ice? Yes! Though it may not feel exactly the same, you can still do the same spins, jumps, and footwork that you would do on natural ice.
