Australia

"Australia" by Alex Lithgow Alex Lithgow was a Scottish-born, New Zealand and Australian based composer and bandleader who lived in Launceston. He wrote over 200 marches and became known as the "Sousa of the Antipodes". He died in 1929. This march, “Australia”, is not played as much as many of his other marches so we have selected it to give it a good airing. In fact we couldn’t find out anything about this march, when it was written or for what significant event. Played here by Campbelltown City Band, Adelaide, South Australia and conducted by Al Kidney
