In the late 1980s I was the founding president of the BRITISH COLUMBIA AVIATION MUSEUM. The following video is a brief history of the construction of our first display hangar. Thanks to Geoff Hallett BCAM Archival Photos for searching out and providing the archival photos in this video. Information below researched and provided by Norm Dressler. The first building comprised a 125’ X 100’ steel main structure with 20’ frame lean-tos running the full length of the building on both the north and south sides with two 15’ X 40’ extensions on the east side for a total of 18,700 sq. ft. (1,737 sq. m). The building was started on Dec 15, 1988 and completed for the official opening on July 21, 1990. The finished cost was around $310,000 mostly covered by an Expo Legacy grant of $135.00 and a GO BC grant of $115,000.
