Pranil Roy was born with a narrowing of the aorta called aortic coarctation. He underwent his first balloon angioplasty at 2 months of age. Since then he remained alright and grew up to be a healthy boy. There was a residual narrowing of the aorta which led to hypertension. He was put on antihypertensive medicine from 5 years of age. After careful consideration, he underwent stenting of his aortic coarctation at RN Tagore hospital. The procedure was successfully done and the arch narrowing was successfully treated. He is now well and off antihypertensive drugs.
