Rare Jazz Records @ Princeton Record Exchange, Feb. 2019

Just Arrived: 1,000+ Jazz LPs! You regulars will likely have noticed that we have put out a couple of thousand jazz records over the last month or so, but these have come in batches from smaller collections. If you follow us on Instagram, you’ve seen some of the highlights. However, it’s been a while since we’ve had a single large one filled with sought-after original pressings like the one we have today! This beauty includes over 100 “rares” (those records whose value we peg at $30.00 and up) and over a thousand lower-priced titles. The stalwarts Miles, Coltrane, Mingus, Monk, etc. well-represented, but, as you would imagine with a collection this size, the selection is very varied. There are many fantastic and sought-after first and early-pressings on Blue Note, Prestige, Norgran, Clef, Riverside, Contemporary, and other classic labels. Highlights include: Sonny Rollins “Saxophone Colossus”, Prestige PRLP-7079, Yellow NYC, VG++, $499.99 Thad Jones “Detroit-New York Junction” Blue Note BLP-513, Lex. Ave., $699.99 Bill Evans Trio “Portrait in Jazz”, Riverside RLP 12-315, Deep Groove, $399.99 Red Garland Trio “Groovy”, Prestige PRLP-7113, Yellow NYC, $299.99 Kenny Dorham “Afro-Cuban”, Blue Note BLP-5065, VG++, 10” LP, $499.99 John Coltrane “Soultrane”, Prestige PRLP-7142, Yellow NJ, Deep Groove, $299.99 and, oh so many more! For those whose budgets are a little tighter, have no fear. While there are many expensive tiles here, there are also over 1,000 from $1.99 to $24.99. The bulk of the collection seems to have been purchased from the late 50’s through the early 70’s, and there are tons of original “deep groove” pressings (that “D.G. referenced above) on a wide variety of labels, both East and West Coast. The conditions are varied, but overall very good. The more modern records, those made from late 60’s on, are for the most part excellent, with the older ones a little less, especially the covers on some. Still, for 50 years plus old, they are looking good, and we have adjusted the prices accordingly. Please note that these records are sold first come, first served. Many of these titles are in very high demand, so to be as fair as we can to everyone, please do not call us to ask to put any on hold. For those not familiar with our store, sorry, we are a walk-in store only and do not ship. We hope you get a chance to visit us soon as we don’t expect this diverse collection to last very long.
