Presented by Electra Skrzydlewski and Susan Rosette - Classroom 258 Electra Skrzydlewski is the Director of Shared Ownership at the Metropolitan Consortium of Community Developers (MCCD) where she leads community wealth-building programs and lending initiatives. In this role, she works with BIPOC and low-wealth communities to achieve collective self-determination, advance racial and economic democracy, and foster sustainable development by owning and controlling the places where they live and labor. Prior to joining MCCD, Electra was the Program Manager for the Cooperative Development Foundation supporting a portfolio of programs to empower the next generation of cooperators, improve social and economic conditions in historically underserved areas, and drive lasting change through shared ownership. With a career spanning over two decades across financial services, government, non-profits, foundations, and economic development sectors, Electra is a seasoned strategist adept at translating complex concepts into actionable plans. Her expertise lies in building consensus and implementing innovative strategies that address multifaceted challenges within diverse organizational contexts and mission areas. Susan Rosette has been in the field of caring for people for over 30 years. Beginning as a Massage Therapist and teacher at the Minneapolis School of Massage and Bodywork, sharing her expertise in Massage, Therapeutic Touch and Small Business Management. She created her own business that provided 36 group homes with 17 therapists working with her to provide Susie’s bodymapping system for people with severe disabilities to train caregivers in techniques to make a difference in their lives on a daily basis. Concurrently offering self-esteem and mindfulness workshops for women at shelters, recovery groups and counseling groups that have experienced domestic violence, sexual violence, and addiction. Susie started her own Private Care business in 2009 with her Partner David Popilek. They created a special model of care for Hospice Families and patients that provided in home hospice care for up to 24/7 at the end of life. David as an ordained Minister, and Susie provided hospice care to many people over the years hiring talented caregivers along with them to assist people on their journey. In 2020 Susan applied for a 245D license to serve people in lower income brackets and during that process was offered an opportunity to work with the MCCD group and a grant from the State of Minnesota to convert her existing business to a Home Care Cooperative.
