Sports for Seniors - Game On Toronto

ircle of Care provides much needed exercise and falls prevention programming to seniors living in the community all over Toronto. We partner with retirement homes, condo buildings and community centres to provide these programs to seniors who are experiencing decreased mobility and independence and are at risk of falls. Our clients tell us that by participating in our exercise programs they are more confident in their mobility and have seen increased independence in their activities of daily living. With additional funding from Game On Toronto, we will be able to augment our Exercise classes with sports-based fitness classes. Specifically, we will be able to introduce chair tennis, soccer, waterpolo , basketball and volleyball. Additionally, we will be able to add outdoor summer based programs such as softball. Circle of Care has the equipment, but we need staff to run the programs and in some locations we require funding for facility rental. If we are successful at receiving this grant the money will be used towards staff salaries, marketing and communications and facility rental. Based on our current class size, this funding will have the ability to impact the lives of over 200 seniors living in the community.
