SPECTACULAR CITY MTB TRAILS - Cathkin Braes, Glasgow

A City that has it's very own trail centre style trails with spectacular views right across the Glasgow and to the mountains beyond at Cathkin Braes. This little mountain biking haven is my playground and is brilliant for a quick blast after work, a session to practise your skills or even a place to take your kids or friends to learn how to ride. The original trails were built for the 2014 Commonwealth Games which includes a figure of eight, 3.5 mile cross country loop through some spectacular forest tracks and over some really tasty features (chicken runs available too). Additional trails were added in 2018 for the UCI World Championships and include 3 new downhill runs (easy blue, tricky rocky red and a fun orange jump line), a new meandering climb, a car park and a brilliant skills area with a super fun pump track, practise jump line and some skills features. This place is an absolute must visit for any aspiring or seasoned mountain bikers or even families for a wee day out, it seriously has something for everyone. I come to Cathkin Braes frequently after working in East Kilbride and I'm still not bored of it.
