Batwoman 2x03 fight scene Victor Zsasz vs Ryan Wilder.

Batwoman has already covered quite a lot of ground in the first three episodes of its new season, creating a new and intriguing take on the DC Comics mythos that fans know and love. As Ryan Wilder (Javicia Leslie) fully takes on the mantle of Gotham City's new caped crusader, she's been pitted against some significant Batman rogues -- first Tommy Elliot, who was impersonating Bruce Wayne (Warren Christie) himself, and most recently Victor Zsasz (Alex Morf). ►Javicia Leslie as Ryan Wilder / Batwoman (season 2): A highly skilled yet undisciplined fighter living out of her van with her plant who becomes the new Batwoman after finding the Batsuit in the wreck of the airplane bringing Kate back from National City. ► Abilities ✔ Peak of human physical condition: As a relatively-new vigilante, former martial arts instructor and ex-convict, Ryan is in top physical condition for a young athletic woman of her age; she is able to maintain her bodily equilibrium while both moving or staying stationary in variable positions she's in, strong enough to throw or land blows that stagger her enemies much larger than herself provided Ryan judges and secures the right fulcrum between herself and her target, quickly outmaneuvering around her opponents with relative ease and easily landing safely well on her feet almost every time after descending from a great height (and that was before Luke informs her that she could have used her cape to stably parachute down for an infallible landing). ✔ Master hand-to-hand combatant/Martial artist: As a former martial arts instructor and ex-convict, Ryan is a highly skilled hand-to-hand combatant and martial artist who (according to her) is versed in at least half a dozen fighting disciplines and could even mentor others in that respect; although it was inferred that she had been out of active practice for some time; ✔ Keen-level intellect/Expert investigator/Expert tactician ✔ Expert driver: Even while near-panicking, Ryan's skills as a driver is at least that she can not only outpace the Batmobile for a time with her van, but even effect evasive maneuvers while driving ► Weaknesses Kryptonite wound: After a shot of Kryptonite from Tommy Elliot, Ryan's blood changed in color around where she sustained that injury; the veins found in that area have also began to glow an incandescent green and spreading outwards from that point. ► Equipment ✔ Batwoman suit: After finding the Batsuit, Ryan decided to use it to fight crime. ✔ Red wig: The get-up has a red wig that Kate Kane wore while fighting crime as Batwoman; The episode saw Ryan Wilder/Batwoman (Javicia Leslie) crossing paths with Zsasz multiple times, after he was contracted by Safiyah Sohail (Shivani Ghai) to kill the people treated with the Desert Rose serum. In their final altercation (during which Ryan sported a new Batsuit), the pair began to fight, and Zsasz remarked that he hadn't been challenged like that since fighting Batman, and teases that his interaction with the Dark Knight is a "story for another time." Admittedly, the idea of the Arrowverse's Batman fighting Zsasz prior to his disappearance from Gotham city is somewhat unsurprising. DC villain Victor Zsasz only made his first appearance in the DCEU just last year, played by Chris Messina in Cathy Yan’s Birds of Prey. And Zsasz, a sadistic assassin who carves slash marks into his body for each of his victims, is already headed back to the screen in this Sunday night’s episode of “Batwoman” on The CW, this time played by Alex Morf (“Mindhunter”). The action work this episode was especially good. Zsasz is known for his knife work, which some versions of the character do from afar, or only once they have their prey tied up, but here, Victor vaults over furniture, physically takes people on, and even fights with Batwoman. Morf has experience with hand-to-hand combat and was a wrestler for 21 years. There’s a great moment during the climactic fight when ever-resourceful Mary whacks Victor and manages to make a mark on his head. For a guy covered in scars of his own making, he doesn’t seem keen on the idea of someone else leaving one, and his chase with Mary is perhaps the most riled he gets in the episode. Holly Dale’s Bat Girl Magic!, the latest Batwoman episode, gives us a proper introduction to the characters Victor Zsasz (Alex Morf), Tatiana / The Whisper (Leah Gibson), and Safiyah Sohail (Shivaani Ghai). Morf, with his characterisation of Zsasz, does a great job bringing to the television screen an authentic interpretation of the DC Comics villain. Our introduction to the character, relative to the Nancy Kiu written Bat Girl Magic!, comes with Zsasz posing as a hotel waiter.
