READ: We returned west to chase the 4014 on its return run to Cheyenne after its outing to Omaha for the 2023 College Baseball Championship. Join us as we pace Big Boy west out of Sidney, NE to just east of Kimball, NE. Except for the last few miles into Cheyenne after Archer Hill, it's entirely uphill this final day, which gives us a nice opportunity to hear the locomotive work a bit. The consist behind the tender is about 1,000 tons. A 4000-class was rated for 6,000 tons Sidney to Cheyenne at drag speed, suggesting a ruling grade of 0.82%.
