Christian McBride Talks About Getting His A$$ Kicked By Jazz Great George Coleman

Legendary jazz bassist Christian McBride (James Brown, Chick Corea) talks to fellow Epifani Artist KJ (‪@TheOddysy‬, Public Enemy) about coming up in the NYC jazz scene, and learning a hard lesson from jazz legend George Coleman. Christian talks about hanging out at Bradley's, a famous jazz club in the village. Along with his fellow up-and-coming jazz greats like Benny Green and Antonio Heart, Christian would go to the club to play shows and soak in the legendary atmosphere from the likes of Hank Jones, Milt Jackson, and Tommy Flanagan. One day George Coleman comes in at the end of the night and wants to jam. When George wants to jam, you jam. He starts calling out random changes and blowing on his horn, and, well, the rest is history. KJ also asks about how those experiences informed Christian's subsequent career as a sideman and a band leader. Christian McBride has been an Epifani artists for decades, doubling on upright bass and electric bass. He currently uses Piccolo and UL 901 bass amps, DIST2 1x12 dual-impedance bass speaker cabinets, and Epifani HDI instrument cables. The Royal KJ is also a long time Epifani artist. He is the lead singer and bassist for The Oddysy with Johnny Juice (Public Enemy), as well as Unholy Crows with Brian Hardgroove (Stewart Copeland, Bootsy Collins). Video by 23b Productions. Shot on location at The Guitar Shop NYC / La Bella Strings.
