After reviewing "Wallflower" months ago, I quickly started to understand this band's unique writing style with their use of slow-burn builds, careful melodic buildup, and absolute crushing payoffs caked with infectious heavy riffs. These guys have really mastered their own brand in the metal scene. In this video I dissect Eugene's melodic approach to the guitar riffs, how he borrows chordal notes for bass fills (creating counterpoint-style melodies), his usage of power chords and tritone chords on bass, and a zoom-out look at this band's writing style which continues to blow me away. Guys - very few bands can take you on a journey in 4 minutes, but Jinjer have woven an epic narrative for every song I've heard so far.
