Only a year after Pokemon X and Y propelled the series into the third dimension, the core generation 3 games were finally given the remake treatment by Game Freak to mostly positive reviews. Despite taking an entirely new approach to various story elements and many of its iconic characters, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire did a stellar job of translating many of the original's best features onto a brand new adventure for the Nintendo 3DS. However, despite being the best selling remakes in the franchise many feel like the new direction taken by the series as well as a much easier difficulty setting resulted in shallow impostors that couldn't overcome the brilliance of Ruby, Sapphire and Emerald's adventure.
