The bank of four elevators in this video serves the 520 residential units of The Index occupying floors 32 and above from the tower's sky lobby on the 30th floor. Unlike the former John Hancock Center which featured a very similar vertical transportation program to this building, the local elevators were not divided into low- and high-rise banks, with four elevators simply serving the entire residential section. They did not serve floor 72 as that was a mechanical level, and served only the bottom floors of duplex and triplex units on the top of the tower; hence they also skipped floors 74 and 76, and terminated on floor 77 instead of the topmost floor 79. They looked the same and had nearly identical specifications as the shuttle elevators, though the hall chimes on every floor except the sky lobby had been muted, perhaps to not disturbthe residents. They also had the same problem of squeaky noises and somewhat shaky ride quality. Again, they felt a little bit slow for serving 48 floors, and the size of the elevator bank did not feel adequate for a building with more than 500 units. Manufacturer: AG MELCO Elevator Co. L.L.C.
