Travel Vlog #92 | Barcelona, Spain Today, we are exploring Barcelona by heading to one of the coolest and most underrated things to do in Barcelona: Tibiado Amusement Park! After exploring Gaudi’s Barcelona in our last video, we wanted a change of scenery and to get away from the crowds, we headed outside (about 45 mins by public transport) of the main area of Barcelona. To start our day, we headed to La Rambla and La Boqueria Market, which is usually one of the most crowded places in all of Barcelona! We visited at an off time, as well as when Barcelona had far less tourists, so we were able to walk through the market without running into people. We had some juice and tapas, and were ready to head to our next destination! After paying 19 euro for our combo ticket, we hopped on a funicular that would take us 512 M above sea level. Our final destination was Tibidabo - Barcelona's first (and Europe's second) amusement park! We visited the Panoramic area to get the best views of Barcelona. We couldn't go to an amusement park without riding the rides too, right?! We did the traditional ferries wheel before heading to something a lot more exciting: TALAIA!! This ride has been referred to as the scariest ride in the world as well as the 'bucket of death'. While we don't think it's the scariest in the world, we do think that the operators put a little bit too much faith into the riders. There's no safety harness or way to secure yourself to the ride - you're literally standing inside of a bucket that takes you over 50 m into the air. Despite all of that, we rode Talaia multiple times because of the incredible views and just how much FUN it was! The best view of Sagrat Cor is by far in this bucket. After our fun, we went to visit the temple that crowns this hill - Sagrat Cor! This is a relatively modern looking temple that is just beautiful inside and out. It's free to enter, and the contrast of an amusement park against a beautiful temple is quite interesting. To end the night, of course we had to try another traditional meal, paella. Paella is from the Valencia region of Spain, and is traditionally a rice dish centered around saffron and vegetables. We got ours with seafood, since we were right by the coast in Barceloneta. It was so delicious and the serving it came with easily fed us both. We ended our day by heading back to our hotel to back for our next adventure - Switzerland!
