The Story of the 2013/14 season was somewhat of a remarkable turnaround from the events of the first half of the year. David Weir was sacked after only winning 1 of his 13 games in charge as Blades manager and at the start of February 2014, United (Now under the management of Nigel Clough) were still stuck in a Relegation battle, being second from bottom of the table after a 3-0 loss away to Crewe. But from November to April, United went on an unbelievable run in the FA Cup, beating off Premier League and Championship opponents such as Aston Villa, Fulham, Nottingham Forest and Charlton Athletic which ultimately saw the Blades reach the Semi-Finals at Wembley Stadium against Yorkshire rivals, Hull City. United put on a valiant effort against the Premier League side by Twice taking the lead in the first half, But a second half fightback by the Tigers saw the Blades end their cup run by losing 5-3. No negatives could be taken away from the achievement that the Team had produced and United ultimately revived their position in the League and finished 7th and Nigel Clough recieved the Manager of the Year award from The FA for their amazing cup run.
